In a continued show of support for a key regional partner, the Republic of Turkey has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina through a new wave of military aid and training initiatives.
As part of ongoing defense cooperation, the Turkish Ministry of Defense is providing advanced training programs for members of the Air Force of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). One key component of this initiative is helicopter pilot training, designed to boost operational readiness and enhance the skills of flight crews for future missions.
In a significant move to modernize BiHโs military capabilities, Turkey also donates a range of cutting-edge military equipment. The donation includes:
- Four Kirpi II armored personnel carriers
- Kangal anti-drone systems
- Mini Bayraktar TB drone systems
- Two Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
This equipment is expected to substantially enhance the operational capacity of the Armed Forces of BiH, particularly in non-combat scenarios such as disaster response. The drones and armored vehicles will be instrumental in tackling forest fires, floods, and other natural disasters. They will also support search and rescue missions, aerial reconnaissance, and evacuation operations.
Beyond military strengthening, the donation aims to strengthen civilian institutions’ capabilities to respond effectively in emergency and crisis situations.
The official transfer of the equipment is currently pending the completion of customs and administrative procedures within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Once finalized, the assets will be formally handed over to the Armed Forces of BiH, marking another step forward in the strategic partnership between the two nations.
